Pharmashelve chosen for Durham’s newest health centre

Pharmashelve, the specialist range of pharmacy shelving, storage, merchandising and dispensing drawer solutions manufactured by Crusader, has just been installed into Oakfields Health Centre (formally Oakfield House) at Hamsterley Colliery in Durham.

For many years, local medical services were delivered by the now retired GP from a traditional doctor’s practice which was attached to the former GP’s residence.

With the impending retirement of the existing GP, plans were made to build a new purpose built facility where the range of services could be developed and the number of patients expanded. Today’s primary health care is now able to offer a significant increase in the scope of medical services for local people, thus increasing the amount of treatment that can be sought without the need to visit the local hospital.

A modern dispensary was pivotal to the new plans and the design features and benefits of Pharmashelve were seen as key factors in the overall success of delivering a high quality health centre to the local population. Specifically the flexibility, high specification and low cost of Pharmashelve were seen as key factors in the products specification at the design stage.

The new health centre has been hailed as a great success and has succeeded in providing a spacious new modern building which has, in turn, attracted more patients. Easy parking combined with a comfortable and spacious waiting area and well organised and enthusiastic staff has further enhanced the patient’s experience at Oakfields Health Centre
